This has been sometime now that I've been trying to stay away from music that stir emotions, which made me listen to some sort of chill lyricless music, but even then I still think, in the back of my head, that our hearing wasn't made for us to listen to music. Rather music is something we use, or certainly I use, to momentarily escape from situations that are kind of though or uncomfortable, thinking that listening to music will make you feel better, or help you refresh, but I'm starting to think it only help you escape reality, and therefore lose control for a moment.
And as I journey I also came to realize that losing absolute control comes gradually, from the continuous losing of tiny bits of control, like losing yourself momentarily in music. I wonder if anyone has tried not listening to music at all, does it have the effect that I think it has ? Because I think it has a positive impact, if the goal is to keep control at all times.

Hello,
I have tried to not listen to music, but I do not abstain intentionally anymore. I have no real desire to be listening to music during this stage of life even though I can enjoy it if someone puts on a good song, but I can be without music for weeks or even months. On the other hand, the longer I abstain the more pleasant the effect of listening to it, alike drugs which may ring a bell. However, music has to be among the least intrusive of factors in preoccupying the mind, rendering it little a risk of indulgence with decent control.
The beast of man (our body) as an animal seems to be boosted health wise by rhythmic tunes and singing for a baby may calm it down. Even if your superior soul does not need the music, the positive effects on the beast may make life on Earth easier in keeping its balance/peace. Your weakest link of the chain here on Earth is your very body, so it has to be kept in check.

Yes I agree with your point, but maybe you haven't experienced this sort of usage of music, the one that is used to literaly escape your problems, or when you feel stressed, and then you listen to a music over and over, escaping your reality through imagination. I guess the issue here is not really music but the 'Escaping reality through imagination'.

Yes, but that is not only true for music and can be anything, e.g. computer games, movies and much else.
